Keeva is the dog that started all this! About a year prior to adopting Keeva, I fell absolutely head over heals for a friend's border collie. After doing a ton of research, I decided to adopt from the Nebraska Border Collie Rescue. The truth be told, Keeva, was not the dog that I had my heart set on adopting. But sometimes fate deals us a different hand. Looking back, not only did she need me, but I needed her. An instant bond was formed and to this day, Keeva is still my favorite dog. While she has her quirks, as most rescues do, she is the most wonderful companion anyone could ever ask for.
I started Keeva in Rally in the fall of 2008 as a way for her to have something to do when we go to dog shows. I knew I would have my work cut out for me though. Keeva was scared of everything. We practiced, practiced and practiced. Today she is one leg away from her RE and I'm so very proud of her. The legs and titles certainly haven't come without struggles and embarrasement, but with her I wouldn't have it any other way!
Keeva is retired now and lives with my folks, where she has officially adopted them as her own. Her stay with them was only to be a vacation, but now when I ask her if she wants to go home with me, just looks at me, "grumbles", and goes and lays in her crate. So glad they are happy with her, since it is obvious that she doesn't want to come live with me any more!
